365 Day Blog

Just before the beginning of the year I read about several people thinking they would commit to a 365 Day Blog; take one picture on every day of the year and make a blog post about it. Of course in the back of my mind I thought about how many pictures I take of my son and that it would probably be easy for me to do the same.

So on January 1, 2010 I began posting a daily picture on my personal blog: Watch The Fishers. It's actually really neat to go back and look at each picture because they all tell a story of what we did that day or what new things Dylan has learned.

If you think this is something you would like to do then keep these things in mind:

- Make sure your blog posting dates can be adjusted prior to posting; No, not to cheat but there will be things that come up and you won't be able to post a picture the same day.

- If at the end of the day you haven't taken any pictures then take a picture of something up close, a picture of something special, or a picture of your child(ren) sleeping.

- If your photo program supports tags add one titled "365 Day Blog" or something similar so you can pull the pictures up. This will come in handy around Christmas time or other holidays if you want to make an album a gift!

- Facebook provides a great way to show a preview of the most recent 3 pictures posted on a website by just putting the URL in the "What's on your mind?" box, so this is a great way to show your friends and family a picture but also have them click on the link to see all the others!

I have very much enjoyed doing this as well on my blog, carriecotter.net. Having an infant, it had been a great way to document his milestones!
